For me, September always feels like January. It feels like a fresh start!
The pace of summer slows down, routines return, and there's a quiet sense of change in the air. For clients in recovery, I find this to be an inspiring time to restart and check in on what is or isn't working.
Whether you’re newly sober, years into your recovery, or navigating the decision to seek help, September can be a grounding time. The shift into fall invites structure, intention, and clarity...three things that deeply support the recovery process!
Summer Can Be a Slippery Season
Summer isn’t always easy for people working through addiction. Social events, travel, and unstructured time can disrupt routines or bring up cravings. If this summer felt difficult, or if a relapse happened, please know: it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you're human.
Recovery isn’t about perfection. It’s about honesty, resilience, and returning to yourself, even when things feel messy.
A New Season, A New Commitment
Now is a great time to ask yourself:
What’s been helping me lately?
What’s been hurting?
What kind of support do I need right now?
You don’t need to overhaul your life overnight. Small, steady changes make the biggest difference. That might mean getting back to meetings, reaching out to a sponsor or therapist, setting boundaries, or simply creating a morning routine that supports your sobriety.
You’re Not Alone
Addiction thrives in isolation, but recovery grows in connection. If you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure where to begin again, reach out.
September is your reminder that it’s never too late to start fresh. Every day is a chance to come home to yourself, to your values, and to your vision for a life beyond addiction.
If you’re ready to reconnect with your recovery or begin it for the first time, I’m here to walk with you.
